American Recovery Service Donates Over 3,000 Pounds of Turkey to the Food Bank

El Dorado Hills, CA November 21, 2016 American Recovery Service (ARS), the premier national repossession servicing firm, recently sponsored a company-wide Turkey Drive to benefit the Food Bank of El Dorado County and the members of the community that the food bank serves.

ARS has a standing history of pulling together during the winter season, fostering a culture of generosity, and giving back to the community. Previous annual events have centered on employee driven Canned Food Drives, which have resulted in the donation of thousands of pounds of food each year. This year the Food Bank made it known that instead of canned and non-perishable food items the real need was for turkeys. So ARS did what it does best; as a collective group encompassing nearly 400 employees, they rolled up their sleeves, opened up their wallets and hearts, and got down to the business of giving back.

The ARS Turkey Drive was held during the first week of November and over a period of a week, employees came together in a concerted effort of giving, resulting in the purchase and donation of over 3,000 pounds of turkeys. Those turkeys were loaded onto trucks and delivered to the Food Bank’s warehouse in Cameron Park, CA, where they will await the date when they will be distributed to dozens of needy families in the community.

Cortney Cea, SVP of Operations at ARS was directly involved in the turkey gathering and shared a genuine pride in the company’s efforts. “I am very proud to be part of an organization that is able to make such a positive impact in the community each year” she stated. “Once we heard that the Food Bank of El Dorado County had received enough canned and dried items, our staff was able to donate enough money with a company match, for over 3,000lbs of turkey! We are all honored to be able to contribute to dozens of families having a full holiday meal.”

Mike Sproull, Executive Director of the Food Bank of El Dorado County, which has been servicing families, homebound seniors, veterans, and at risk individuals in El Dorado County for over 17 years, stated that with the help and contributions received from businesses like ARS, they will provide food to 1,200+ families this December. In a letter, the Food Bank shared a message of thanks, “I would like to take a moment and thank all of the individuals, businesses, and service clubs that make our mission a reality. Teamed with people like you, we were able to distribute over 2 million pounds of food last year. You all should be very proud of what you have done for others who aren’t as fortunate.”
